Saratoga Sepr. 4. 1850

My Dear Sir, 
I send you appended three checks 1. on the Exchange Bank Norfolk for $979.17/100- 2. on the Farmers Bank of Virginia Norfolk for $779- 3. on the Bank of Virginia Richmond for $200- being the next amount of the two drafts recently negotiated. The deficit of $42 and the difference in Exchange I will make good when I hear from my wheat and its delivery, which I have not yet done. Saratoga is almost deserted, but we are settling on quite comfortably and pleasantly, except indeed that Gardie alarmed us a few moments ago by giving some exhibition of suffering in his sleep from eating imprudently during the day. He has however fallen again to sleep and our alarm has subsided.
The [Niemon?] is that Jonny Reid will be here in the [cars?] to night. I shall mail this myself , and shall therefore be duly advised of her advent is it occurs.
