Atlanta Ga. Feby. 10. 1856 Dear Sir Since my answer to your communication I have had an interview with Mr. Thomas White who was Secretary of our State Directory. His address is Agusta Ga. you can correspond with him on the subject of your communication to me if you see proper. I believe you said at the conclusion of your communication, that it was rumored there that war was to be immediately declared between this Country and England; and if so who could tell the end? I am not a prophet, but permit me to inform you that the rumour will turn out to be a bull, the end his posterior, and right under his tail will be located the Emigrant Aid Society by every true and patriotic friend of Ireland. Respectfully C. Cumming on the other side is a copy of a second letter from Dr. Chas. Cumming of Ga. I send it to you as a specimen of English composition under difficulties. Mc.G. Dr. John J McGowan Providence R Island Feb. 16 1856 On reception of Charters, and enclosing a note from Dr. Cumming of Georgia.
