dc.description.abstract Recalls previous war acquaintance; is now a rice planter in Carolina; wishes advice about an European school where he may send his wife's son with least risk to his morals; prefers France or Switzerland as an American ought not to imbibe English prejudices; asks if British are bound to pay for negroes carred from his plantation during war; hopes the U.S. will reject an alliance which he hears the British are trying to negotiate; is misfortune that we speak the English language; U.S. and Russian empire possess the natural seeds which must support British empire; American trade should be increased. en_US
