Abstract: Letter, 13 July 1841, from John S. Caldwell of Fredericksburg, Virginia, to John Minson Galt II of Williamsburg, Virginia. Caldwell is to transport Maria Lewis, a free African American woman who has been "adjudged to be a lunatic," to Williamsburg to be put into the "Lunatic Hospital at Williamsburg."
