Abstract: Reference to a party going to Jamestown to plant ivy around the old church steeple, led by [Edward Everett]; mentions difficulties of son, John; comments on Va. gubernatorial race; his address at the College [of William and Mary] forthcoming and the rebuilding of the college is estimated to cost $18,200, and will be completed Oct. 1, 1859. Includes engraving of John Tyler. Autograph Letter Signed.
